About the Boat
This boat began life as a Waypoint, a new line from Tomco Marine. Three were built before the factory decided to switch gears and turn this boat into a 362 - the two-stateroom version of their 365. This was the first one: 362-01.

The boat was at some boat shows, and Tomco used it as a demo from the time it was originally built (2018) until putting it on the market in 2020. Nick saw it on Yachtworld and we decided to take a look. We loved it!
The Waypoint was a more basic boat than the rest of the Tomco line. To get this boat sold, the factory planned to make upgrades to bring it to 365 standards, as well as get it ready for cruising:
new bottom paint
complete clean & wax
new striping
replace upholstery
fiberglass mast added to replace old-style stainless
hydronic heating system
full Garmin electronics with two screens
upper deck expansion with new rails and ladder
davit

After a little negotiating, they also installed a stern thruster.

One of the upgrades was a coupling on the drive shaft. These are finely machined feats of engineering - and the new part didn't quite fit the old part. So...they also replaced the shaft.

We ordered shelving for the two master berth hanging lockers, so those were designed and installed.

She was given a new HIN and is officially a 2020.

So, though not quite brand new, we are the first owners and...we got a great boat!

A note about the name Touch of Gray.
Our two previous Ranger Tugs had blue hulls. We've always admired boats that aren't the typical all white of most boats. AT's also have colored hulls - mostly. When we saw that this boat was white, we were a bit taken aback. White? Really? (Not ideal, but certainly not a deal breaker.)
We were told the boat's original red striping would be replaced, and we could choose any color. Interior components were already gray so we went with that for the exterior accents.
I thought of Touch of Gray one day as I was thinking about a having a white boat with...you guessed it...a little bit of gray. Since Nick is a fan of the Grateful Dead, and we've always enjoyed their song Touch of Grey, it just made sense. (We decided to change the spelling.)
So, the name is a nod to a few things - our feelings about having a white boat, getting older, and a well-liked song. As we purchased the boat during a global pandemic, the lyrics rang especially true: "We will get by...we will survive..."
