ToG arrived in Liberty Bay on Friday. The weather has changed and it feels weird to put on long pants and close all the windows.
This weekend is the Liberty Bay Festival and the Poulsbo Boat Rendezvous. When we checked in, the marina staffer gave us a funny look and said, "Well...I don't know about festival..." when we mentioned it. Huh.
We lunched at the Brass Kraken and shared a BELTA - basically a BLT with avocado and a fried egg. Really good!
Lady KD pulled in later in the afternoon. Steve and Tracey win the prize for most creative dinghy bumpers!
We had Cobb Salads aboard ToG...much fun had by all.
Half a dozen or so small wooden boats are on our dock, and some larger classic boats are on the next dock over. There was a boat parade yesterday, which we didn't see because we were lunching at the Slippery Pig. A booth on the main drag had some info about the festival, and there was a community band playing in the park.
The small wooden boats are from the former local boat builder, Poulsbo Boats. (The image above shows one of these boats used as a tender.) We stopped in the small museum and learned that "Poulsbo" is a mispelling. Was supposed to be "Paulsbo."
We had wonderful chicken tetrazzini and corn on the cobb aboard Lady KD. Another delicious meal!
The highlight was the Navy "jazzy bluesy" band that played yesterday evening in the pavillion. They were quite good and a fun addition to our dining experience.
So...the festival was a little underwhelming. There were a couple of community booths in the park. The weather was drizzly and a bit chilly, which may have dampened the enthusiasm. There seems to be many available slips at the marina, even though they told me I had made the last two reservations.
We woke to low clouds and fog. We have the heater going! Both boats will cruise out later this morning, Lady KD back to Des Moines, and ToG on to Port Townsend.
