What a fun weekend at Cap Sante, despite me catching Nick's awful cold. :(

With all the excitement of getting our boat to her new home, I forgot to take photos - but I'll include some soon.

I really liked this huge tree at the Anacortes visitor's center because of the few crab ornaments thrown into the mix. Hard to see, but they're there:

The parade was great, with some really large boats (photos courtesy of Steve S.):

This litte C Dory was my favorite. Good example of decorating a small boat in a big way!

While walking the dock, Nick asked one of the guys busy decorating if he was going to be in the parade. His answer, "No. I was in it two years ago and the boat in front of us hit the rocks and sank." Yikes!!!

Nick and Steve ran out to Village Pizza for some takout (all agreed pretty decent pizza), which we enjoyed as the boats went by.

Sunday morning, Nick and Steve took off in the boat to head around the corner to Skyline. Tracey and I drove up to the Cap Sante lookout to take in the views.

I took this photo, thinking it was ToG. It wasn't! This is Papanam (another AT that was at the dock), making its way home to Bellingham. (Obviously, I didn't know what direction I was looking.)

Tracey and I met ToG just at they were approaching the dock at Skyline. Our "docklord" (John) was there to greet us as well. It took a bit of time to get her secured the way we wanted, give John a tour and some info, and collect our things. Then the four of us headed home, stopping at La Conner Brewing for lunch.

It will take some time getting used to having our boat some distance away but we feel fortunate to have John, plus his neighbor and our friend Dave, checking on the boat often. We also have to be much more thoughtful about our "stuff." For example, Nick's (library) book was left on the boat. Can't just run down and grab it!

All in all, a fun trip with fairly good weather. Sunny, mostly clear blue skies with no wind in Anacortes.

Cheers to the last of our 2023 boating and to the upcoming holidays!
