We departed Pender Harbour yesterday for the 13 or so miles to Backeddy Marina at Egmont. Egmont is a popular place for staging the trip to Chatterbox Falls in Princess Louisa Inlet. The falls is one of our main goals this trip and we are looking forward to proceeding up Jervis Inlet to Princess Louisa a little later this morning. We will likely have zero cell coverage for the next several days.
This area is very beautiful. Sparsely populated and vast. The following two photos are the view up Agamemnon Channel:

We arrived at the Backeddy Resort & Marina, with geodesic camping domes and a pub.

We walked 15 or 20 minutes up the road to the town of Egmont. Not much there but a small store and public wharf. One thing to do in this town is to watch the nearby Sechelt (or Skookumchuk) rapids from a viewing area. The viewing is a one-hour walk on a trail and we just didn't have time to do that. The rapids are a sight to behold, we've read, and very dangerous for boaters who don't carefully plan their passage.

Our friends arrived aboard Coorie Doon, with about five other Ranger Tugs. (It was Steve and Jeanie who invited us on this trip.) We enjoyed happy hour on the dock, with fresh tuna sushi prepared by the Whoa Nellie crew - what a treat! Some of us had dinner at the pub, and then watched the lovely sunset:

A couple of things about Backeddy: the docks are quite rustic (code for shite). I took a video of what the outer dock (where we are) does when a boat goes by. I am having trouble loading it but I will keep trying. Just know that it's awful! I don't think a person walking on the dock could stay upright. We just warned a family that was walking by, one of whom had a small baby. Very dangerous. Not to mention the amount of rocking the boats do, with lines straining and fenders grinding . Other than that, the staff is friendly and helpful and the pub was decent. We planned to stay here again upon our return from Chatterbox but we've cancelled that reservation and will head further south to Secret Cove.
