Gulls eat sea stars? Whole?

Yes. I've witnessed this a couple of times now and it's kind of disturbing. The gulls tend to stand around for a while with the sea stars in their beaks. I'm guessing this is because the sea stars may begin to shrink up a little. (Wouldn't you?) And then at some point the birds start to gag them down. It takes a few minutes, and the gulls' necks get all distended and misshapen as the poor little creatures get swallowed whole. Altogether bizarre.

Wanted to include this photo below from last weekend in Gig Harbor. Fun times.

One more thing about Gig Harbor. Remember that sailboat that made its way around the bay under sail, and way to fast? Well, we didn't realize it at the time but our one kayak that was in the water and tied to the boat, was almost swamped. When we tried to haul it on board we found it full of water. Quite difficult to get it aboard and drained. Had to have happened when that sailboat's wake got us. I swear, if I ever see that boat named Charlie again...I'm going to call the captain a bad name...again.

A few people have asked where we got our newest windsock. Amazon, of course.

Also, I finally spent some time completing my website. Yep, https://jmcmott.wixsite.com/touchofgrayat352-01 is not just a blog. There are a few different tabs with information about us and our boat, plus links to articles we've written for the Waggoner Cruising Guide.

We plan to head south next week to visit Jarrell Cove and Oro Bay, but first it's a Walla Walla wine-tasting weekend!

Hi all! I finally decided to change platforms for my website and blog. The new site is under construction so apologies for any weirdness...
