We did the East Loop trail one day, and the SW & NW Loops the next. Such a beautiful spot.

Interesting flora, including lots of lovely little juniper bushes:

They are trying to rejuvenate the Garry Oaks, so seedlings in tubes all over the island:

The trails mostly hug the shore, so really nice views:

One of the nicest campsites ever...

We left Jones Island for Friday Harbor on Tuesday. One of our favorite haunts, Island Studios, is closing for good on October 15th - after twenty-seven years! Too bad really. The owner says she's been the only employee for nine months. She also stated that traffic has been low due to unreliable ferry service.

Some friends of ours say they like staying on Breakwater B at the Port of Friday Harbor because they enjoy the view, so we decided to try it. It's great, and we didn't feel so hemmed in by other boats in a crowded marina. It's not any more rocky from ferry traffic than the guest dock (G). Large boats and cruise ships use the outer side though, so that could be a problem. We lucked out and no other boats tied up between us and the busy harbor.

We had a nice dinner on board with Nick's sister Kit, and lunched yesterday at San Juan Brewing...as usual.

We have been watching the weather and will head home a few days before we intended. Always a bit sad to leave the Gulf and San Juan Islands!

We're headed to La Conner now and will continue south tomorrow.
