We saw way more white pelicans at the north end of the Swinomish Channel than we recall ever seeing before! Hundreds...

This guy looks a little forlorn, waiting so patiently in his bucket only to perish by boiling water.

He was yummy, along with grilled corn and bread.

Coincidentally, we arrived at the AT dock in La Conner just behind Aris. So, one last happy hour and then some of Deb's homemade Ina Garten cake - scrummy!

At some point over the last 24 hours, Nick had an epiphany. He mentioned to me yesterday that maybe we should consider keeping our boat somewhere north...specifically, La Conner. After talking it over we decided we might be ready for this. It's come up before but we just weren't ready to have our boat far away, nor be away from South Sound cruising grounds.

We discussed it extensively and pulled the trigger this morning. Meaning, we put a deposit down at the La Conner marina for a covered 40' slip. There is a waiting list (where isn't there) so it will be a while - likely many months to over a year. This is probably a good thing - lots to process around this big change.

Some of our thoughts have to do with the number of times in a year that we travel between Tacoma and La Conner. Several. And the time, fuel, and engine hours expended. It may be weird to have our boat so far away but really, we can be in La Conner in two hours. And we can bring her south any time to visit our favorite Puget Sound locations.

We are now in Langley after a calm and quiet cruise on a beautiful day.
