Still. No. Crab.

I forgot to mention that we took care of some boat business while we were in Friday Harbor. We began the process some months ago to have a Bimini made and installed on our top deck. The company is San Juan Canvas, located just off the docks at the Friday Harbor Marina. Since we were around, we took the opportunity to stop in and choose fabric. It will be a medium gray Sunbrella with a textured appearance. It won't be ready until next April.

As I paddled around Garrison Bay this morning I noticed a lot of orange-hued marine life.

Maybe some kind of sponge?

An anemone under water. This one was at least a foot long and six inches in diameter. I saw some of these "in bloom" but I couldn't get a good photo. They looked like giant orange broccoli.

I believe this was the same type of anemone, just mostly out of water and droopy:

Sea star:

And this big Dungeness - those front claws were about 2 inches thick. This one was dead, and covered with mud but you can still see the orange color of the shell.

We departed Garrison this morning and are now in Sidney Canada. We are boating with our friends aboard Aris and we'll talk with them this evening about plans, but for now we think we'll head north around the Saanich peninsula and on to Tod Inlet and Buchart Gardens.
