ToG from our hike to the schoolhouse and T-shirt shop:

Looking out to Reid Harbor:

When we were talking with the bio-survey crew, Nick asked (of course!) if they saw any crabs down there. They said other than sea pens plus cans and boat hooks, there isn't a lot goin on down there.
Crabbing season for this area opened yesterday (Saturday July 15) and lots of people/boats are around just for that. Nick was among many prepping our two traps on Friday evening.
He dropped the traps Saturday morning:

We checked and redropped several times, then left them to soak overnight.
Skunked! Only a couple of rock crabs, which we don't bother with. Only Dungeness please!
It was my first time trying my little crab catcher which I rigged in an empty line real.

Also just a lousy rock crab.

We are now anchored in Nelson Bay, Henry Island (Roche Harbor). Nick dropped the pots again and I have my line over the side. Hopefully we'll have crab for dinner!
