Week in Friday Harbor

We've had a wonderful week in Friday Harbor! Sierra was able to take a couple of spins on her paddle board.

We arrived last Saturday and met Sierra and Brian at Kit's house. We stayed on the boat at night all week, either biking or getting rides to the house each day. We had a couple of iffy weather days...some rain, some wind...but most of the week has been just perfect with temps in the low seventies.
Sierra on the beach at Kit's, getting ready for a paddle:

She decided the water was little too rough but she and Kit had some fun anyway!

A look down to the harbor:

Sierra ended up moving her paddle board to the boat. I finally tried it but just on my knees. Next time, while not in a marina, I'll try to stand.

A very slow moving seal going by the boat:

We had a few picnic lunches at Roche, Lime Kiln, and Cattle Pass. We walked, shopped cooked good food, and drank some good wine and margaritas.
Never did catch any more crab...not for lack of trying. Some people on the boat next to us last evening gave us one, I think because we were do whiny and bitter about our bad luck. Enough for a nice crab Louie tonight.
Shortly after arriving, while cleaning up, our two crab traps that were sitting on the dock plunked into the water. Nick was able to retrieve one of them - the good one, but we are down a pot. No big deal. There aren't very many crabs out there! Some people are catching a few but most report pretty much the same - no crab!
Thursday, Sierra and Brian put their car on the interisland ferry to enjoy a "Lopez day." Nick, Kit, and I took ToG over to Lopez that day as well, so Kit could both enjoy a boat ride and get a little taste of Slopez.
That evening while we were at Kit's for dinner, a boat came in next to us and hit our dinghy outboard and our grill. People on the other side of us watched it happen and reported loud noises. We found no damage to ToG or the grill, but did find a few marks on the outboard. The owners were forthcoming and apologetic. That same day as Kit was arriving at the boat, some other guy almost took her head off with his anchor while moving his boat. He did not look in control at all. Oh the interesting adventures of boating!
It was a great week! We said goodbye to everyone this morning after visiting the farmers market. We'll head to Garrison for a couple of days...and maybe we'll catch some crab!
